Help! I Want It but I Can’t Start Up!

Starting Is the Hardest Part (So Start Anyway)

Hesitation is the place where dreams go to die.
The hardest part of achieving a goal isn’t the planning, it isn’t the finishing, it’s not even staying consistent. It’s starting.

Most people don’t fail from a lack of planning. In fact, the planning is the part they have down to an absolute science. They spend their whole week planning for a start on Monday. Then Monday comes around, and they tell themselves that everything isn’t aligned yet. “I’ll start tomorrow”, they say. “Next week, when things slow down, when the timing feels right.”

Screw that.

It’s January 2026. AKA New Years resolution season. AKA 90% of people will be quitting by February. It’s the hard truth, but that doesn’t mean you need to face it. Just by taking the first step, you will increase your odds of actually making that change you desire.

Stop thinking about it, make the move.

Perfection Is Just Fear in Disguise

So lets look at suspect number one of why we stay stuck.

In this social media era, where everyone is looking to show their progress, there’s one toxicity that has infected society: Perfectionism.

So many dreams die because of:

–          Fear of failing.

–          Fear of looking inexperienced.

–          Fear of realizing you’re not as immediately good as you had hoped.

And so to compensate, we over-plan. We make sure that our first step is “perfect”. We come up with 40 different questions to ask ChatGPT so that every minute detail is figured out and we can finally avoid the daunting fear of failure. OoooOooo

And then 2 months pass.

And now your new excuse is: It’s too late.

One step in the right direction is worth 100 days of thinking about it. One move towards your goal is worth 100 days of motivating yourself about it. Motivation shows up after you’re already moving. Action is an addiction, and when you take even a small one, baby you got a stew cooking.

A Personal Example: This Blog

Yeah that’s right, super meta, that’s my style.

When I first began, I didn’t really know how to write. I’m still not sure I do, I honestly just speak my thoughts and hope somebody’s listening. If you’re reading this send me the message Electric Boogaloo, I’ll know what you mean.

Regardless, here I am, starting anyway, and I intend to continue every week.

Sometimes my posts get some views. Sometimes they don’t. Sometimes it’s just five people who read my blog. But guess what? I keep going, because I believe in momentum, I don’t care about perfection. Perfection is a myth, and I believe if you’re starting something with good intentions and you stay consistent, something will come of it.

You never know, maybe a year or two from now, someone is doing a deep dive into my posts and finds this one. Maybe they’re curious about how the beginning came about. They’ll know I never started perfect, but I started honest and I kept at it.

That’s how anything worth doing begins.

Start Today

The fact is, tomorrow isn’t promised. And if you keep saying tomorrow, you might just never begin.

This isn’t intended to be some Tony Robbins hype speach. It’s a mindset. The world needs more doers, not watchers. We scroll enough watching other people build their lives. Stop being a spectator. Stop waiting for the perfect moment. Lay it all on the line, make a bet on yourself, be willing to face your fears, and be willing to make mistakes.

The only person who truly cares about your mistakes and your lack of experience is yourself. Others may make a passing comment, or they may just completely ignore you. Let them, they have their own life, and when you build something worth looking at, believe me:  they’ll be watching.

So let’s fast forward to a year from now.

Which version of you do you want to be?
The one who waited?

Or the one who started?

I won’t judge you either way, but I will say this:

If any of you need help getting started, especially with your health, but truly with anything. You don’t have to do it alone. Life gets hard enough, it’s even harder when we face it solo.

Stop waiting. Start  today.

Be blessed.
